Sara Parkins, violinist, is a Grammy award winner for the Best Chamber Music Performance of the complete recordings of the Haydn String Quartets, with the Angeles Quartet. Along with her recordings on Philiips Classics, Sara is featured in recordings on the Victo, Avan, and Tzadik labels. As first violinist with the Valcour String Quartet, she toured Mexico and was a cultural ambassador to Russia. As a member of the Stonybrook Piano Trio she was a winner in the 1991 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Sara has performed in international venues such as the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Strings in the Mountains in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Festival Internacional de Música de Cadaqués in Spain, Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato, Mexico, the Bach Aria Festival, and Garth Newel Music Center. She currently holds the principal second violin position in the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra and performs with the Eclipse Quartet and Camarata Pacifica. In New York, she performs regularly with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble. Sara attended the Curtis Institute of Music and received her Masters degree from State University of New York Stony Brook in New York. |
